World Cup Fever – My Top 5 England Football Songs

Right, I still can’t believe what I’m seeing, England have made it to the world cup SEMI-FINALS, yes, that is right I said semi-finals, and I can well and truly say that football is coming home (In Southgate we trust). As some of you may know by now if you follow me on twitter, I am a huge fan of football, and very patriotic when it comes to England playing football, and what goes better with an England win more than anything else? That’s right, a good old sing song, so here is in my personal opinion my top 5 favourite England football songs just to keep that World Cup fever going.

Shout for england

5) Dizzee Rascal ft James Cordon – ‘Shout For England’

Now I’m not going to sit here and say that this is a good song, but boy does it get you in the mood. The line “come and have a go if you think you’re hard enough” is enough to make me feel like the most passionate football fan in the world, some kind of football hooligan that cheers for England and England only, its incredible.

4) Ant & Dec – ‘We’re On the Ball’

“ITS NEVILLE TO CAMPBELL, CAMPBELL TO RIO, RIO TO SCHOLSEY, SCHOLSEY GERRARD, GERRARD TO BECKHAM, BECKHAM TO HESKEY, HESKEY TO OWEN, TO NOD 5-1”.

Who knew the Geordie men could produce such a banger for England ay?

vindaloo

3) Fat Les – ‘Vindaloo’

Now this one just sums up England, a bunch of men and women all cheering about football and curry, legendary right?! The “NA NA NA” is unforgettable stuff, a proper banger to get you in the mood for watching England. The real question is, does anyone even eat Vindaloo?

new order

2) New Order – ‘World In Motion’

This one could of easily made the number 1 spot, but just got edged out in my opinion. If you don’t know the words to the famous John Barnes rap are you even a football fan? Even the “we’re playing for England, ENGLAND” gives me goosebumps every time.

skinner-baddiel

1) David Baddiel, Frank Skinner & The Lightning Seeds – ‘Three Lions’

It had to be right? Its actually coming home, it has to, this is England’s year. Just as the song says, “never stop the dreaming”, and that’s just what the nation is doing right now. Its so amazing to see a nation fall in love with international football all over again, football fans or not, its truly incredible to see. This song is the definition of English passion, and hopefully we will be singing it all the way to the final!

COME ON ENGLAND!
